Patty's in the House!

David's parents came from Austin, Texas to visit us for the weekend and to take us to conference with them. I was so excited for them to come and see our new house and spend time with us. I don't think we have spent much time with them, just David and I. We had lots of fun.

David picked them up from the airport Thursday night. Friday morning they bought David a surprise house warming gift while he was at work. We all went to David's work, Qualtrics, for their TGIF lunch and company meeting. It was fun to have them see where David works.

Mom took me shopping and bought me some maternity tops. It was fun to spend time with her, and so kind of her to buy me some clothes! I felt so special!

David came home a little early and went with dad to pick up his surprise. We kept calling it his dog house, he almost believed us.

Friday night we enjoyed Indian food at my favorite, Bombay House. Saturday morning, our friends the Wilde 's joined us for whole wheat waffles and the morning session of General Conference.

The men had tickets to see priesthood session at the conference center so Mom and I ran a few errands and visited David's cousin Anna for a bit. I sure love David's family, they are always so kind!  That night I had a bit of a mental break down that I blame 30% on being pregnant, 20% on being hungry, and 50% on the fact that David decided at 4pm saturday to invite over approximately 24 people to our house on Sunday for a dinner... Yeah, that was crazy and David was so nice and helped me through it. Thankfully David's parents helped plan and set up.

We left our house at 7:30 am to get to the morning session..... SO EARLY!!!!! But we got there early and enjoyed Music and the Spoken Word with the Motab choir, and conference was wonderful. I might have used the bathroom 4 or 5 times during our "visit."

The BBQ turned out great, I think, and everybody brought a yummy side dish, and they even helped me clean up while David took his parents to the airport.

I am grateful for a wonderful husband, with such a great family to call my own! It was such a fun weekend with his parents and I am so glad they came! They hadn't been to Utah since our wedding. They won't get to wait that long till they come again, we hope to see them soon after the baby is born.

Big News!

I am sorry about the little April fools joke I did, but it was sure fun! Not the typical "I'm pregnant" April fools joke though, I say.

This is 17 weeks after church. (my changing day is Saturday)

I was able to meet up with my beautiful friend, Paige, and attend the Salt Lake City Temple. 21 1/2 weeks.

And Last night, 26 weeks!

I have been feeling great and I have not thrown up since the middle of January! For 2-3 weeks, around Christmas, I was throwing up at least every other day. I would throw up if I didn't eat. So I had little meals VERY often. I will just say I sure got tired of eating- what a chore!

I have not had any food make me nauseous, and I haven't had any cravings, really. But I haven't been particularly interested in desserts. Over Christmas vacation in Texas with David's family I had 2-3 grapefruits everyday. I got more grapefruits while in Arizona for my sisters wedding, so I am starting to get back on that kick.

Maternity clothes are GREAT! My great friend Chelsie went with me to find some maternity pants. They are wonderful! I am glad I went at 19 weeks and can enjoy them for so long! I was down to 1 pair of bright red skinny jeans that I was still able to button up, and wearing red skinny jeans every time you want to get dressed (when I wasn't in scrubs for work that are still comfy thankfully) gets old pretty fast.

We found out the gender the day before I turned 20 weeks, on February 15. We considered that our Valentines day present! David was so excited during the ultra-sound when we found out he is a BOY, he pumped his fist in the air and hollered! I didn't have a feeling either way, and we are both happy!

I love hearing his heart beat at my appointments, and I love feeling him move and kick and punch me! It is truly amazing and always gets me excited! This little guys is growing inside of me.

So coming sometime near July 6, will be Baby Boy Patty!

Back to Utah This is from June, 2012, better late than never!

David and I got home from two weeks in Nauvoo, Illinois. It was my last hurrah tour with the Ballroom Dance team and the trip was great. We performed everynight and usually a shorter out-reach show during the day. We performed in Quincy, Carthage, keso... and many nights in Nauvoo's own outdoor stage right next to the LDS visitor's center. The temperature was high and so was the bug count! There were bugs throughout the show but especially after our black light number, MicTendo, The loved that black light. We come on stage for the ballroom medley in black and then after a naration about our prestigious team the lights come up, and I sure loved seeing all of the bugs buzzing around. YUCK! I was fortunate never to partake of the blessed bugs, but some were not so lucky.

We stayed in a condo/villa with Shane and Shannon Jensen, which was blast, they are so funny and kind. We had a blast quoting Nacho Libre together because Shane loved it so much he watched it 3 times, ha ha.

I have never heard of some famous people that we ran into three times, but apparently they are.... famous.... The sister wives... reality series about paligamists. We ran into them at the Carthage Jail and then at Annie's Frozen Custard that night, and invited them to come to our show. The church publicity and our director was happy to know that they werent filming anything.

Just a side note Annie's frozen custard is acceptable ice cream BUT I would much much much rather have Nielsen's Frozen custard of Utah. WAY Better, they can actually call themselves a custard. Annie's just tasted like plain frozen yogurt.  They were funny and closed at a different time everynight, as in 9:32, 9:47.... we didnt get done with our show and packed up with everything till 10:30 so Lee was awesome and asked them to stay open late for us and then he payed for our ice cream- everyone.... for three nights! Wow, was a great way to use some money that a wonderful man donated to the company, "for the kids." Thanks!

This was my last tour, my last times performing! I told my friend I was 80% happy to be done 10% sad, and 10% I don't know for sure how I feel. We did one show before tour in South Jordan and I walked on the bus and I thought to myself how glad I am to be done. No more not feeling like I don't have anyone to talk to because many have their own little clicks, no more early early mornings, no more drama, no more rediculously long weekends to random places that are way too far away to be traveling to on a school weekend, no more setting up or striking show sites.
Sadly no more "Great Moments" with Lee Wakefield.
David and I at the Provo airport!
Yummy breakfast with the Pendleton's and Thornocks!
Getting Ready for the handcart pull
 Our handcart family
Good friends at the mission president's home for ice cream
The whole gang in front of the Temple
A great Performance at the Abraham Lincoln Museum, so fun!
Us trying to take a picture sneakily of the sister wives outside of annie's custard....

And most wonderful, we got to take a couple extra days and visit David's family in Chicago area! Thank you to David's parents and Ben for coming all the way to see me dance. Even though we got rained out and had to do a partial show indoors on a much smaller stage.

I am now graduated! See ya BYU! April 20th I walked the line, I actually went to commencement and convocation. It was alright, I don't think I regret 'walking' but it wasn't a big deal. My mother and David went to commencement at the big Marriott center where Elder Oaks spoke at. I sat with my good friend from student teaching which was fun and I was very glad that I didn't have to sit alone. I borrowed my cap and gown from an old friend from my cohorts/ student teaching, and so all I needed was my hassle to be all set for graduation fashion. I was studying for one and only final, so David went to buy the tassel, and what do you know, they ran out of the yellow tassels... You would think that they would realize that more than half of the colleges at BYU require a yellow Tass. Well I guess some people are not as smart Asa they want to be. All they could offer me was a PhD Tass. Cool, whatever. So during all the graduation stuff I felt silly not to have what EVERYOENE else had, I had the short stumpy one... My Mother, Bill, and David went to my college convocation. And then we went out to a great Chinese place for lunch. After commencement my mother took David and I out to Red Lobster! So good. Thank you, Mom! We moved out of our apartment the next day, my mother was so nice and brought down their big truck to help us move all the big stuff, and most of the rest of the boxes. Side note, or maybe it should be the main topic, I have the best mother in the world. I don't know what I would do without her. We even moved our bed with the help of a random distant cousin of my mothers who lives in Provo near my mother's aunt. So we got our table and chairs, couches, coffe table, desk, bed and night stands, and all our clothes and a TON of boxes. I knew we had a lot of stuff, but I think everyone is amazed at how much they have when they have to box it all up and move it! Woof, thankfully my mother helped, and David's friend Aaron helped. And three of our other couple friends offered to help us, you know you have good friends when they offer to help you move. Thank you for beings great friends. A couple weeks later... (last night) John and Chelsie came over and helped us unpack and organize and hang up stuff, they are so nice, thank you, John and Chelsie! I got my new work schedule for the rest of the summer and amazingly enough, I have every Friday off! Yahoo. I am so grateful for that. Now I don't have to get a ton of Fridays off whenever I want to go party or take a trip. I love summer and I should work, but it's summer and I like my freedom. Twenty-seven hours a week, and Fridays off. Just the right amount of work! David..... Got an internship! He applied to many many internships, was interviewed at a few places, and went through 4 or 5 different interviews at qualtrics and was hired! Amazing, we are so grateful and David is very excited. The position is software engineering, 40 hours a week, 20 hours when he starts school in the fall for his last semester, and if they like him probably an offer when he graduates. Oh, I forgot to mention he gets paid twice as much as I do, go David! We are going on tour to Nauvoo with my ballroom team the first two weeks or June, my last ballroom adventure. David is coming as a tech and it will be super hot and I think we will be doing 16 shows in 14 days. It is a service tour so our food and housing is covered by the church and we are performing on their outdoor stage every night. David's parents are flying from texas to Chicago and grabbing his aunt and maybe uncle and grandparents and his brother Ben might be coming from Virginia and they are seeing my last two shows! His parents have never seen me dance and this is the last time so I am very grateful that they want to come and are traveling so far. Instead of flying home to Utah with the rest of our team, David and I are driving back to Chicago with his parents and visiting his grandparents for a day and a half and then flying out of Chicago back to slc. We only had to pay $123 extra each. We are so grateful to be able to see his grandparents again.

Chapstick

I have accomlished something noteworthy (hence a post). I have finally completely finished a chaptsick before losing it or sending it through the dryer! That, my friends, is a huge accomplishment.

I had 5 flavors and about every 2 months I would locate all and have them stashed in various convenient locations, and then after a while I would know where 1 or 2 of the five were. This is the cycle of my chapstick. Now my goal is to keep better track of them so I can finish more and not waste as many.

WASTE NOT, WANT NOT. Thanks Benjamin Franklin.

The Day After Valentines

WHELP, Its that time of year again, Valentines day, and so lovely. I bought roses yesterday for myself (I was at costco and figured it would be considerate not to make david make an extra trip when I was already there) and I picked up some beautiful steaks for tonight or tomorrow night. I got daivd his favorite oatmeal breakfasts and a chocolate milk and a HUGE KitKat, and in January he got an early present (a couple board games).

David was so thoughtful and went out and waited in the LONG SEE'S candy line and got my favorite: Key Lime Pie Truffles, SO DELICOUS, a whole box, such a surprise! and he wrote me a beautiful card that was just perfect and sweet. He bought me a pair of earrings that were beautiful, and when I walked in the door from work, he had cleaned the apartment and did all the dishes! I was so surpised and greatful!

On the bed was layed out a cute outfit he picked out himself from my closet for the night. It was absolutely perfect! I have always heard men picking out the wives clothes and thought it was so sweet. After some pictures and kisses we went to dinner at the Indian Palace on center street. It was very crowded and they don't take small group reservations, and niether of us liked what we ordered but that is ok, oh well.

We picked up some Sub Zero Ice Cream and went home and snuggled to a movie. (Poor david is sick and wanted to go to bed early).

So David's grade this Valentines Day: A+++

Now heres the after-math of valentines day....

I have early morning rehearsal, 7:30 AM, and david has not slept well all night and right before I leave he starts throwing up. :( poor guy, so I stay and help him with a couple things, and I text my director to let him know I will be late. I finally get out the door to find our car (last night we let our friends borrow one of our cars, I think one of their was being fixed) so I go to find the one that is on the side street, and I cannot find it (I don't know exactly where david parked it because he drove it last) so I walk around the entire townhome complex, and go back to ask david where he parked it, "up at the top of the hill." GREAT ok I woll go look again, nope not there, it must have been TOWED, I about burst into tears, went back inside to get my coat and gloves and the large full face helmet and drive the scooter to school, only 20 minutes late.

My director was nice and asked about David and I told him my car wsa probably towed and then started crying, infront of my friends too. After practice I had to go to class, I called the towing company and asked if they had our car, they said it was impeding traffic, WHAT!!! are you kidding. So I guess David had parked it with its nose sticking out, well I just hung up on the guy before I cursed at him and started crying. So I almost made it to my class by decided I needed to go home and cry some more, I just could not handle it.

$225 later.... sad. (its only the second time David has been responsible for our car being towed...)

Not a good day. Later I went got a Jamba Juice (with a coupon) and some Salt and Vinegar chips and went to work and my manager, Craig, listened to me kindly and then made me laugh, and made me laugh more with some adorable photos of cute fuzzy animals with funny captions. Thank you, Craig.
